Beyond her accomplishments in the media industry, Christene King has ventured into the realm of authorship. She recently completed a book chronicling the life, fashion, and legacy of iconic Jamaican designer Francis Keane. This literary endeavour showcases her versatility as a writer and her passion for preserving and honouring the rich cultural heritageof her country.

Christene King’s journey has been marked by personal triumphs as well. Since being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016, she has displayed unwavering strength and resilience. As a survivor, she is deeply grateful for her life and actively supports causes related to breast cancer awareness. King is a member of the Jamaica Cancer Society and Jamaica Reach for Recovery is, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by this disease.

Each year, she delivers compelling talks on Breast Cancer Awareness, sharing her own inspiring story with students at her alma mater, St. Hugh’s High, where she serves as secretary of the executive of the Past Students Association. She has also addressed the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston and the welfare club at the Norman Manley Law School, UWI Mona Campus, shedding light on the importance of awareness and early detection.Not content with her achievements in journalism alone, Christene King has actively participated in various transformative projects. She served as a facilitator in the JMMB/Joan Duncan Foundation Conversation for Greatness, a collaborative initiative with the Ministry of Education. This endeavour aims to empower Jamaicans, including school boards, principals, teachers, and ancillary staff, to tap into their innate potential, thereby positively influencing their lives and communities. 

In her illustrious career, Christene King has held notable positions in the media landscape. As a co-founder, shareholder, and director of the Sunday Herald, she made history as the first woman in the industry to own significant shares in a national newspaper. Furthermore, she conceptualized and produced the renowned Pure Class weekly tabloid magazine, which garnered numerous awards during its 25-year run. In partnership with the Sunday Herald, King edited and published this widely acclaimed publication. Her contributions extend beyond these ventures; she has also lent her expertise to esteemed organizations like the Gleaner and the Jamaica Record, where she worked as an editor. In addition, she has edited several specialist publications, including SportsWorld for the RJRGleaner Sportsman & Sportswoman of the Year Foundation, Remembering Garvey, and OceanStyle magazine.

Recognized for her professional excellence and commitment to her craft, Christene King has affiliations with various professional and vocational associations. These include the JamaicaEmployers’ Association Convention Committee, AFAFOSA, and the Temple of Light CSL Board of Trustees. She has also taught modelling and grooming at the Francis Keane Modelling & Grooming School, which she co-founded as well as the Mahogany Modelling & Grooming School and Faces.
